Love and Seawater is the VR component of Barrel Stories, an ongoing multi-platform storytelling project which explores the contemporary phenomenon of parental separation due to economic migration.

Love and Seawater is an interactive virtual reality piece that will explore the emotional distance created by parent child separation. Focusing on the relationship between the parent and child it will provide a glimpse into the internal world of each character, demonstrate the distance (emotional and physical) between these two worlds, and explore how they might come closer together through shared understanding of each other’s experience.

The project has been commissioned as part of Virtual Reality Documentary Encounters an ongoing research project into the use of virtual reality for non fiction storytelling. We are part of a production study in which the researchers will observe our method as we go about making a piece of non-ficiton virtual reality.
